Following a “credible tip” received by The Nodaway County Sheriffs Office in related to the Branson Perry case, the FBI has been called in to assist. An FBI “specialized team” will arrive Monday to future investigate a well on a property in Quitman. The tip in the 23-year-old missing persons case was received Tuesday night.
Local law enforcement officers are in the scene in Quitman after recovering a “credible tip” related to the Branson Perry case. Perry went missing in 2001 and the case has remained unsolved since. Officers said they arrived on scene last night.
Northwest Missouri State University announced its 2023 Tower yearbook has been selected for Varsity Yearbook’s Portfolio. Portfolio showcases students and staff dedication and talent to the book. This is the 15th consecutive year Tower has been included in the Portfolio.
The Spoofhound’s Boys Tennis team has advanced to the state tournament for the first time in school history. The team defeated St. Pius X with a score of 5-1 and then beat Trenton 5-1. The Hounds will play Bolivar in Springfield at 9 a.m. on May 25
The Maryville Rotary Club is hosting its first Bloomin’ Peony Tour on May 18 and 19. Due to rain showers throughout yesterday, all scheduled baseball district games for local schools were postponed to Tuesday afternoon. Maryville will play at 2 p.m, in Cameron, Northeast Nodaway at 6:45 p.m. in Maysville, Nodaway Valley at 4 p.m in Guilford and Platte Valley at 6 p.m. in Rock Port.
The Hanger Entertainment Center announced it will be hosts free summer matinee movies for the public. Matinees will start in June 3 and movies, times and additional dates will be released later this month.
Northwest announced the university places first in Electronics Recycling Per Capita category of the 2024 Campus Race to Zero Waste. The university recorded recycling 20,343 pounds of electronics this year. It places No. 32 in waste diversion and No.47 in minimizing food waste.
Nearly every school in the country celebrated their senior class graduation on Sunday. Jefferson C-123 kicked off the day with 13 graduates at 1 p.m. Northeast Nodaway, North Nodaway, Nodaway-Holt and West Nodaway also has seniors turn their tassels throughout the afternoon. Maryville High School will host its graduation on May 19.
Several local high school baseball programs have advanced to sectionals over the weekend. Nodaway Valley defeated North Nodaway 6-4 and will face South Holt in the semifinals Monday afternoon. Northeast Nodaway upset Tri-County with a score of 8 to 3. The Bluejays will be King City Monday evening in the semifinals.
