Nodaway County unofficial results for the Aug. 6 primary election have been released by the Nodaway County Clerk’s Office. Austin Hann received 49.83 percent of the vote for Nodaway County Sheriff. Jeff Hall received 53.46 percent for coroner and Scott Walk had 59.64 perf cent of votes for south district commissioner.
The City of Maryville has been awarded an ARPA grant to upgrade the public safety radio equipment. The grant is $264,690.89 and the funding will enhance communication capabilities for first responders to provide faster and more reliable service.
Nodaway County Household Hazardous Waste Collection Site will accept household hazardous waste from 8 a.m. to noon on Aug. 10, at the Nodaway County Maintenance Barn. Drop-off is free for residents of Atchison, Gentry, Holt, Nodaway and Worth counties and an ID is required.
New Nodaway Humane Society will host its annual Paws Atla Poola dog swimming event from 5 to 7 p.m. on August 12, at the Maryville Aquatic Center.Entry is $5 per and $5 per person. A city dog tag for those inside city limits and a rabies tag for those outside must be shown.
The Northwest Missouri Moon Festival has announced the lineup for the music event, growing from a one day event to a whole weekend. This year will feature classic rock and Christian music. Eleven bands will perform at the festival including Busch Pilots, The Ozark Mountain Daredevils and Newsboys.

Northwest Missouri State University’s Board of Regents will meet Aug. 2, in the J.W. Jones Student Union Boardroom. The meeting will start at 1 p.m. and discuss Garrett Strong Laboratories renovation, fiscal year 2025 university goals and more.
Maryville Police Department apprehended an adult and a juvenile suspect in relation to an investigation into a series of auto and property thefts on July 30, according to a release. The pair were witnessed fleeing from a stolen Chevrolet Silverado. This remains an active investigation.
Maryville Public Library Executive Board of Trustees welcomed new Trustees at its July meeting. Andrew DeCurtis server as board president from 2021 to 2023 and volunteers at the library in other capacities. Jenny Rytting completed the maximum number of consecutive terms, serving from 2015 to 2024.
Maryville R2 online registration opens on Aug. 1. In person registration will be held on Aug. 7 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
