Missouri drivers can now be ticketed for using their phones behind the wheel starting Jan. 1. The Siddens Bening Hands-Free Law, prohibiting hand-held cell phone use while driving, went into effect in August 2023, but law enforcement gave drivers a 16-month grace period, according to News-Press Now. Penalties depend on the severity of the ticket but start at $150 for the first conviction, $250 for the second and up to $500 for three or more convictions.
