Two Missouri legislators have filed the “Missouri Prenatal Equal Protection Act,” a bill that seeks to nullify the state’s recently enacted abortion rights amendment and classify abortion as homicide. This proposal runs parallel to a confirmed November 2026 ballot measure asking voters to repeal the amendment, an effort recently endorsed by U.S. Senator Josh Hawley. Meanwhile, a state appeals court has finalized the language for that 2026 referendum, clarifying that a “yes” vote would explicitly end the constitutional right to abortion in Missouri.
