This week is FFA Week. Growing leaders since its inception in 1928 Missouri is home to 356 Future Farmers of America Chapters and is 11th in the nation. In 2023 there were 26,830 chapter members. 4380 volunteers contributed 17,300 community service hours alone. Missouri had 582 FFA Degree recipients last year, the most of any state in the union.
Missouri Department of Economic development has announced that Eastern Airlines, a domestic and international cargo airline, has selected Kansas City as the location of its new headquarters, investing more than $4.7 million and creating 165 new jobs. Eastern Airlines’ new location will have open positions, such as maintenance professionals, pilots, and flight operations personnel, and will pay a median salary well above the county average.
Governor Parsons has announced that The State of Missouri will be providing up to 200 Missouri National Guard members and 22 Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers to support Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s Operation Lone Star mission at the Southern Border. An Executive Order was issued to activate the MONG and the Governor’s Office’s discretionary emergency response fund. The plan to support border security along the Texas-Mexico border also includes a $2.3 million supplemental budget request to the Missouri General Assembly to support border security efforts and backfill the Governor’s Office’s emergency response fund.
