Missouri State Representative Brenda Shields has announced she is ending her campaign for the State Senate due to her long-term health outlook. Shields revealed she will undergo cardiac surgery next month and has been advised by her neurologist that the stress of a Senate role would add unacceptable risk factors for a stroke. While she is withdrawing from the Senate race to prioritize her family and health, Shields will continue to serve out her current term in the Missouri House of Representatives.
