NOCOMO met their March Madness drive goals !Recycling donations not only supplies NOCOMO, it creates jobs for 8 of their employees. Even though March Madness is over the Community is encouraged to continue to bring them your cardboard and aluminum recycling. During March 524 lbs of cans, 3,488 lbs of cardboard and 2,473lbs of books!
Missouri House of Representatives has approved a spending plan for the upcoming fiscal year 2025. This proposed state operating budget, totals $46.4 billion. Here are some highlights $120.6 million increase to fully fund the K-12 education foundation formula, $14 million increase to fully fund school transportation, $1.5 billion toward expanding broadband access, $8 million for the National Guard and Operation Lone Star to defend the southern border, $2 million for grants to pregnancy resource centers. The approved bills now move to the Missouri Senate for consideration, with a final agreement expected by Friday, May 10.
Northwest is encouraging students to reduce waste as The Biannual Big Green Move Out begins with the spring semester coming to an end. As students begin to leave campus, Northwest and Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Nodaway County are partnering again to encourage students to donate unwanted items and reduce landfill waste. Between Monday, April 15, and Friday, April 26, students have an opportunity to donate clothing, unopened hygiene products and household items. Collection bins will be in the lobby of each Northwest residence hall as well as other convenient locations.
